Who we are
Papr is made by Muhammad Saidul Umam, an individual seller based in Indonesia (“we”). Questions about this page or your data: support@papr.nemixe.com.
What leaves your Mac, and who gets it
- Your notes
- Nobody. Papr uploads nothing.
- Polar
- When you buy: your payment details, which Polar handles, and your email and order details. When you activate and about once a day after: your license key, your Mac’s name and a one-way hash of its hardware ID.
- GitHub
- Update checks and downloads come from GitHub. Nothing about you or your notes is sent.
- Us
- Your email and order details, which Polar passes to us to provide your license and support.
Your notes
Each note is a Markdown file in Documents › Papr, one folder per workspace, with its images next to it, saved after every change. You can open, edit or back them up with any app.
Papr uploads nothing. If your Documents folder syncs with iCloud, your notes sync with it, through iCloud and not through Papr. There is no account and no analytics.
License checks
Activating sends your license key, your Mac’s name and a one-way hash of its hardware ID to Polar’s license API. Papr re-checks about once a day. The hardware ID itself never leaves your Mac.
Updates
Update checks and downloads come from GitHub, where Papr’s releases are published. Nothing about you or your notes is sent.
Purchases
Polar is the merchant of record: it sells Papr to you, takes the payment and issues your license key. Polar handles your payment details. We receive your email and order details from Polar to provide your license and support.
